The state of Israel is 70-year-old this year. Many people approach this anniversary in many ways.Date: Saturday (11th of August) 6:00 pm
Venue: MODEM Cultural and Conference Centre (1. Baltazár Dezső square)
Program: Opening ceremony of a new exhibition in MODEM with the title The Land of Promise. This exhibition aims to present Israel’s cultural, social and political complexity through the video works of contemporary artists living in the country.
The use of video artworks is spectacularly over-represented within the local art media. One of the reasons for this might be that videos can compress complex messages and display different dynamics simultaneously. It is thus capable of formulating versatile critical reviews. In Israel, it is easy to find many examples of video artworks that can relate to the present and the history of the state of Israel at the same time. Now, the visitors of MODEM’s new display can see such video artworks at the exhibition.
The curator asked the participating artists to bring a map along with the presented videos. These maps symbolize the relationship between the artists and the state of Israel.
Exhibiting artists are:
Alona Harpaz
Dor Guez
Joseph Dadoune
Nir Evron
