Menzel’s wife, Olga Menzelová shared a post on her Facebook page about the director’s death. According to the press, Menzel died on Saturday, 5th September.
Jiří Menze was the director of a dozen feature films and documentaries, and he also participated in many Czech and Hungarian theatre projects. As an actor, he starred in 80 films. He received an Oscar award for his 1967 movie entitled Closely Watched Trains.
