After the closure of almost half a year, museums and tourist attractions, including the Reformed Great Church of Debrecen, will be open to visitors again from 1 May. In June, the church square was filled with life mainly by class trips and camping groups, and in July and August, the organizers prepared a program for individual and family travelers.
Among the programs, all ages can find the ideal opportunity to truly fall in love with the church. As part of the “Great Church in Love,” visitors can complement the church tours with puzzles and playful tasks every Tuesday, an organ concert on Wednesdays, and a glass of fine wine in their hands on Thursdays to watch the sunset from the panoramic walkway. The first event of the summer program package starts on July 1 (Thursday) at 7 pm, the organizers are waiting for the “lovers of experiences” for the first time. Participation in the guided tours, which end with Thursday night wine, is subject to pre-registration, which can be done in person at the Ticket Office of the Great Church or by phone at 06 30 190 4409 during opening hours.
Detailed program:
- “Lovers of reconnaissance” are expected at the church from 10 a.m. Tuesday. Designed primarily for families with young children, the program introduces visitors to the history of the Great Church through playful tasks and puzzles, as well as visiting the Hall of Worship, which provides a true passage between the past and the present.
- On Wednesdays at noon, “music lovers” are welcome: a visit to the Great Church can begin with a short organ concert, and after a long outage, the melodies of the 24-bell chime will resume.
- On Thursday evenings, “lovers of experiences” can get to know the Great Church in a special way. At the guided tours starting at 7 pm, visitors can first get to know the sights of the Great Church, then at the end of the tour they can reach the panoramic sidewalk with a glass of Great Church wine in their hands and watch the sunset and capture the moment.
The program offer is available from 1 July to 19 August 2021. Further information (dates, ticket prices) can be found at www.nagytemplom.hu/szerelmes.
