The Kodály Philharmonic’s centenary series in Debrecen and Tatabánya will continue in June with the all-art production of Carmina Burana.
On Tuesday, Carl Orff’s work will be performed at the Főnix Arena in Debrecen, and the staging of the piece will remain faithful to the composer’s spirit and medieval theme.
The performance of the Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kodály Choir will be accompanied by contemporary movement theater visual elements, including circus acts, the Kodály Philharmonic Debrecen announced on Monday to MTI.
Carmina Burana will be performed in Tatabánya on June 21st, in Debrecen at the grand concert opening the flower carnival week, and on August 16th at the night of the classics.
The 2023/24 season of the Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra will take place in the spirit of the orchestra’s centenary. Anton Szaburov, Gergely Kesselyák, Peter Szilvay, Gábor Káli, András Keller, Rajna Martin, and the guest ensembles of the season will be the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra, Concerto Budapest, Capella Savaria and the National Philharmonic Orchestra.
To end the festive season, José Cura, the Argentine opera singer also referred to as the “fourth tenor”, will take the stage with the Kodály Philharmonic.
A decisive moment in Debrecen’s musical life was May 13, 1923, when the city’s philharmonic orchestra gave its first independent concert.
