These young musicians receive financial support from the Debrecen municipality

For the third time, the Debrecen municipality has announced a Music Support Program tender for young, amateur musicians. According to their press release, the purpose of the tender is to complement the existing national support systems and to provide financial assistance to budding, talented musicians in Debrecen, taking into account their gaps. The results of the tender were announced before the Rocksuli end-of-year concert in the Water Tower Garden on June 24, 2023.

Deputy mayor István Puskás highlighted that the light music program in Debrecen started three years ago. As he said, as part of this, the Made in Debrecen Festival was organized for the second time in March of this year, which attracted thousands of visitors and moved the entire city. In connection with this, he noted that the Music Box competition is part of the light music program, which continued, this time the students of the Árpád Tóth High School took possession of it for one school year, and the school’s formations also presented themselves at the Made in Debrecen Festival. He revealed that in the next school year, the Music Box will be given to the students of Mihály Fazekas Gimnázium in Debrecen.

Speaking about the Music Support Program tender, he said that this year it was possible to apply in two categories (subsidy for the production and publication of light music recordings and the production and publication of light music video clips). A total of 42 applications were received for the call, of which 10 bands and soloists will receive financial support. The Music Support Program will continue in the future, thus helping the popular music scene in Debrecen.
