ABC has released the first promo for the upcoming 76th Emmy Awards, showcasing its father-son hosting duo, Dan and Eugene Levy.
The spot, which aired during Tuesday night’s primetime lineup — including “The Bachelorette” finale — highlights the duo’s signature humor, featuring a classic dad joke about eyebrows. In the promo, Dan playfully warns his father, Eugene, not to go for an easy eyebrow gag. But, true to form, Eugene can’t resist, delivering the pun with a wink.
The Levys are making history as the first father-son team to host the prestigious event, adding a fun twist to the Emmys this year.
The promo arrives just as Emmy season kicks into full swing, with the Creative Arts Emmys set for this weekend, Sept. 7 and 8, at the Peacock Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. Fans can look forward to the main Emmy Awards ceremony later this month.
This year, Shōgun continues the ongoing trend of the 2020s, where at least one series garners multiple Emmy nominations for Best Drama Writing.
While previous shows with similar recognition didn’t secure wins, the new FX series is widely expected to break that pattern, particularly because, unlike many of its predecessors, it won’t face competition from three-time winner Succession.
Among the 10 nominees for this award, only Peter Morgan (The Crown), the 2021 winner, has been nominated before.
Aside from his show and Slow Horses, most of the nominated series debuted in 2024.
