Between April 9 and 18, the Kölcsey Center will once again be filled with life, music, ideas, and shared experiences.
The Debrecen Spring Festival 2026 is coming, and this year it holds special significance: the event series also marks the festive opening of the Kölcsey Center’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
The ten-day festival promises a true cultural blossoming: poetry and melodies, improvisational moments, family experiences, and timeless hits will follow one another on stage. The organizers aim to ensure that every age group finds unforgettable moments—whether it’s an intimate poetry evening, carefree laughter, or a shared family program.
“Tell Me, Atika! – An Evening of Attila József” – a moving literary journey on opening night
On April 9 at 7 PM, the festival opens with the performance “Tell Me, Atika! – An Evening of Attila József.” On the opening day, Miklós H. Vecsei and Gergely Balla will bring to life the depths of Attila József’s poetry.
The evening offers a personal and touching journey through the poet’s life, loves, and works—an uplifting literary and musical experience for all who are still moved by his lines today.
“Our Civic Treasures – Free Family Day” – shared experiences for all generations
On April 11 between 2 PM and 6 PM, families take center stage at the “Our Civic Treasures – Free Family Day.” Visitors can enjoy craft activities, playful experiences, and demonstrations by traditional artisans at the Kölcsey Center.
The goal is for children and adults to discover together the values, traditions, and community strength of the city—in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere.
“Spritz with Kitti Almási – And They Lived Happily Ever After… But How?” – relationships in the spotlight
On April 13 at 7 PM, the improvisational performance “Spritz with Kitti Almási – And They Lived Happily Ever After… But How?” will be presented by the Momentán Társulat. Each show is created based on the audience’s stories and dilemmas: familiar life situations, typical conflicts, and unspoken sentences come to life on stage.
The evening’s expert guest is psychologist Kitti Almási, who sheds light—sensitively and accessibly—on recurring relationship challenges and patterns.
“This Is Pure Madness – Improvisational Activity” – star lineup and guaranteed laughter
On April 15 at 7 PM, “This Is Pure Madness – Improvisational Activity” begins, combining the fast-paced energy of the live Activity game with improvisational theatre.
A true star lineup will take the stage: Steve Hajdu, Áron Sövegjártó, András Faragó (Topy), Nóra Parti, Erika Náray, and Petra Gubik ensure unpredictable twists and guaranteed laughter. The show will be hosted by Levente Harsányi.
“Music Train Super Concert with the Stars of Generál” – legendary hits live
On April 17 at 7 PM, the “Music Train Super Concert with the Stars of Generál” arrives, where the original members of Generál evoke one of the defining legacies of Hungarian popular music. The concert features the greatest hits from both the Sándor Révész and Charlie eras.
These timeless songs will once again be performed live, preserving the signature Generál sound and the energy that connects generations.
“Tóth Vera Band – Spring Harmonies in Debrecen” – the festival’s closing note
