The Gene Preservation Organization will be installed at Hortobágy National Park – announced the government’s decision on Monday Sándor Fazekas, Minister of Rural Development.
As a result of this decision approximately an additional 6-8 thousand hectares can be used by the family businesses for grazing and growing crops.
The National Park, which is the oldest, largest and most famous national park in Hungary, celebrates its 40th anniversary, so news about the transfer of the right of the gene preservation can be considered as a „birthday present”.
The National Park is part of the World Heritage Site since 1999, while in 2011 it was awarded as „Star Park” for having the third most starts visible on its sky in Europe.
