The development of infrastructure, particularly in the case of the industrial park and airport, can be the basis for Debrecen to be able to receive U.S. capital investment.
There are four major characteristics of Debrecen which can make the town attractive to investors. The first task is to make it possible to reach the USA by plane with only one change, then the improvement of the Industrial Park is necessary. Also, logistical base is to be established which is able to serve the needs of larger companies, and relies on the knowledge of the base of the University of Debrecen.
Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis, the U.S. ambassador to Hungary commended the government’s decision which concluded a strategic agreement with the National Instruments (NI), which is an American company. The company invested $ 70 million since 2001 in Debrecen, and now it is one of the largest exporters of the town.
The ambassador regards Debrecen as a potential place of new U.S. investments. This is further supported by the airport’s scheduled passenger flights, which enhances business life and student mobility.
