The European Central Bank issues the new 50 euro banknote on 5 July 2017.
The new banknote will be part of the Europa Series.
Another change in the Europa Series is that the old 500 euro banknote will be withdrawn from circulation; according to Mario Draghi, head of the European Central Bank, it was commonly used in the black market.
