Passengers not allowed to sit next to each other unless they pay for it

From now on, those passengers who want to sit together on Wizz Air flights have to pay extra fees. The airline says that they are constantly improving their services to provide better travel experience.

The new system will not allow people (family members, friends etc.) to sit next to each other, even if the plane is not full of passengers; unless they pay an extra seat fee. The system only guarantees that a child under the age of 14 will sit next to an adult.

Most passengers’ problem is that this important change has not been communicated by the airline and it is more expensive to reserve a seat before right before departure. According to the Wizz Air website, the fee of a reserved seat is currently between 300 and 16.150 Forints. Wizz Air’s goal seems clear: to urge passengers to pay for their seats.

Wizz Air says: “The seat allocation algorithm is part of the airline’s strategy. We are improving our services constantly to create new opportunities to provide better travel experience and to ensure the lowest possible fees.”
