A sustainable, livable and well-functioning village was established in Zala County within two decades.
Since 1996, everything is different in Nagypáli than in other similar villages. They do not sell but expand the substance of the village and they have been using renewable energies for a long time.
The development of Nagypáli, the so-called “miracle village” started in 1996 with the election of Mayor Tibor Köcse. Since then, the population of the village has grown from 272 to 500. When Köcse started his work, the dream of the local government was to develop Nagypáli to European standards, while keeping its Hungarian traditions. By fulling this goal, they have created a sustainable and well-functioning village.
The village has won a number of tenders. Thanks to these tenders, bio solar heaters, solar collectors and solar cells with sunflower-shaped solar tracking systems were installed. Using renewable energy, the cost of electricity dropped significantly, and 70% of the costs of buildings of the local government are covered from renewable energies.
One of the main goals of the local government to use only renewable energy in every households of the village.
