Tamás Éder, the social president of the Hungarian Meat Industry Federation, expects another significant increase in the price of pork, he said at a press event of the Hungarian Meat Industry Federation in Budapest.
According to Napi, the expert put it, it will be difficult to accept price increases with retail chains and customers in the coming months, but nothing else can be done because pig farmers would be ruined. Feed grain, energy, logistics, packaging, and labor became much more expensive last year, and the costs jumped again in the first months of the year, said Tamás Éder.
The leader of the advocacy does not rule out the possibility that the price will fall due to the increase in prices, and many people will look for cheaper products, so imitations of substitute products and cheap mass-produced goods imported from abroad may appear more and more often.
And declining profitability could lead to producers saving on upgrades, which will reduce their competitiveness. Thus, development aid will be particularly needed.
