Survey: more than 70 percent of Hungarians would like the euro to be introduced in Hungary

26 percent of respondents agreed that the country will lose part of its identity with the introduction of the euro, writes portfolio.hu.

In Hungary, 72 percent of the people would like to see the introduction of the euro, but only 24 percent of those polled think the country is ready for this, Telex wrote based on Eurobarometer research published a few days ago. The survey was conducted in the six member states outside the euro area that have legally committed themselves to the introduction of the euro: Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Sweden.

Based on the survey, 25 percent of Hungarians reject the introduction of the euro. 26 percent of respondents agreed that the country will lose part of its identity with the introduction of the euro.

In Hungary, compared to other countries, support for the introduction of the euro is considered very high: in Poland, this rate is 55 percent, in Sweden 54 percent, in Bulgaria 49 percent, in the Czech Republic 44 percent. The proportion of supporters is similar in Romania, where 71 percent want a common currency.
