According to the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH), the gross average salary in May was 702,800 forints, which is 7.8% higher than in the same period of the previous year.
For full-time employees, the gross average salary reached 702,800 forints, while the net average salary was 483,000 forints. Compared to the same period last year, the gross average salary increased by 7.8%, the net average salary by 7.7%, and real wages by 3.2%, with consumer prices rising by 4.4% year-on-year — KSH reported on Wednesday.
The median gross salary was 562,300 forints, and the median net salary was 391,200 forints, reflecting increases of 7.9% and 8.2%, respectively, compared to the same period of the previous year.
In May, the regular gross average salary (excluding bonuses, rewards, and one-off payments) was 660,000 forints, which is 8.6% higher than in the same period last year. The regular gross average salary amounted to 657,700 forints in the business sector, 656,400 forints in the public sector, and 691,800 forints in the nonprofit sector, representing annual increases of 8.1%, 9.8%, and 9.1%, respectively.
From January to May, the gross average salary for full-time employees was 690,500 forints, while the net average salary stood at 474,500 forints. The gross average salary increased by 9.0%, and the net average salary by 8.9% compared to the same period of the previous year.
