The public sculpture, which opens a window between the Polish sister city of Debrecen, Lublin, and the residents of Vilnius in Lithuania, resembles a sci-fi gate, Telex said.
An installation called Portal connects the two cities virtually with the help of a screen and a camera. According to Lithuanian public media, the creators of the statue, exhibited on May 26, worked on the implementation for five years. “Humanity faces a number of potentially deadly challenges, be it the polarization of society, climate change or economic issues.
But if we take a closer look, the solution does not depend on not having excellent scientists, activists, leaders, knowledge or technology. Tribal thinking, a lack of empathy and a narrow-minded approach, often confined to national borders, are causing these challenges.
Says Benediktas Gylys, who considers the Portal to be a kind of bridge.
A unique #PORTAL 🌌 now connects #Vilnius 🇱🇹 with #Lublin 🇵🇱. This portal serves as a bridge between the two cities and a unique opportunity to connect, share and inspire people on the other side. #GoVilnius – @GoVilnius pic.twitter.com/WUQdR7vlfY
