Cardinal Péter Erdő, the head of the Hungarian Catholic Church, met Holy See Secretary of State Pietro Parolin in Vatican City on Wednesday.
After the talks, Erdő told MTI he hoped that Pope Francis would pay another visit to Hungary but added that “it would be too early to talk about actual preparations” for such a visit. “We need to wait a few more months before we can seriously consider when the pope could visit again,” he said.
In another development, Erdő welcomed that “people have returned to the churches and church programmes in the past two years”, adding that during the pandemic “many found support in religion”.
