A wild boar from Russia is no longer named Putin

The 200-pound wild boar from Russia was named Eberhofer in an online poll, Wildpark Waldhaus Mehlmeisel of Bavaria announced on Sunday night – said HVG.

“We are a harmonious, beautiful little reserve, and such a name simply does not suit us,” owner Eckard Mickisch explained the renaming, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who started the war.
Putin’s name was exiled from the Upper Frankish Wildlife Park immediately after the Russian attack on Ukraine, and the wild boar was temporarily given the name Nobody.
You could vote on Facebook, Instagram, email, phone, and in person. Of the nearly 3,000 votes, the name Igor received 201 votes, Frederick 230 votes, Mir 308 votes, Gustl 1,013 votes, and, last but not least, the name Eberhofer 1,118 votes.

The winning name refers to the protagonist of a popular detective series. Among the names suggested were Mir, which means peace in Russian, and Zelensky and Klitschko, but the game park excluded them from the final round because they so to speak no longer want to politicize the names.
