Hungary has extended an exemption from mandatory haulier permits for Ukrainian lorries and trucks by two months until the end of June, the Innovation and Technology Ministry said on Monday.
The exemption, introduced after the start of the war in Ukraine, applies to hauliers travelling both to and from Ukraine. The ministry noted that international hauliers have mostly avoided Ukraine since the start of the war, putting the onus of getting food, medicines and other products to Ukrainians on local hauliers. Bureaucratic hurdles can make their work “very difficult and in many cases impossible”, it added.
