Hungarian explosives experts are providing training and equipment to aid freeing the surroundings of the Chernobyl nuclear plant in Ukraine from mines and ammunition, the official police website said on Tuesday.
The area is littered with mines, explosives and ammunition after Russian troops have vacated it, police.hu said. The task requires special expertise due to the radioactive dust stirred up in the area, the website said. At the request of the European Commission’s Migration and Home Affairs Committee, the central European CBRN-E Training Centre will provide training, protective equipment and dosimeters to Ukrainian experts, police.hu said.
