As usual, Hungary’s most popular gastronomic event, the MBH Bank Gourmet Festival, features the best-known representatives of domestic hospitality and a diverse range of food, desserts and drinks. This year, more than 100 exhibitors are waiting for visitors to the popular “country tasting”, the Millenáris. Every year, Gourmet puts a central theme on its banner: this time, female energies will dominate the rich offer.
Both at home and abroad, more and more women are taking on a significant role in gastronomy, far beyond the boundaries of home baking and cooking and gastroblogs. Women are “shaking up” this field, after they visibly respond sensitively to environmental and social issues, focusing on a more sustainable and colorful future. Their role is becoming more and more visible and emphasized in gastronomy, and their work is increasingly appreciated. “At this year’s Gourmet, we want to show what kind of female energy has been unleashed in recent years in a domestic industry dominated by men for a long time – says Richárd Nemes, the main organizer of the MBH Bank Gourmet Festival. “It is already clear here that female actors and professionals do not only dominate the field of gastroblogs, but more and more are present in restaurants and in other areas of gastronomy,” added the main organizer.
So, while last year the focus was on the new generation, this year, Gourmet is focusing on female energy, three ambassadors will join the event to promote this idea, and a dozen female professionals will present themselves at Millenári during the festival. And, of course, the best restaurants, confectioneries, and wineries will be present, in addition to the exciting food offer, the varied drink menu, from specialty coffees to cocktails to champagnes.
This year’s ambassador of the MBH Bank Gourmet Festival is Zsóka Fekete, who grows mangalica pigs on her own farm, and whose main profile is the production of handicraft products. Her high-quality premium products made in Her small factory are extremely popular beyond our borders. A little girl who helped her grandmother in the market became a livestock breeder herself, and her work and mangalica products are praised by many national and international awards. Also the Gourmet ambassador is Gabriella Ormós, who gave up her communication profession to live under the spell of sourdough, and her most important mission is to teach as many people as possible how to bake delicious and healthy bread. And Zsuzsanna Ötvös, who became a gastroblogger and then a confectioner as a doctoral student majoring in classical philology, also strengthens the list of ambassadors. In the past ten years, she has worked in several well-known fine dining restaurants, and is currently pastry chef and co-chef at Laurel Budapest.
May 24-26. Millenáris will once again be the epicenter of domestic gastronomy. And since the closing day falls on Children’s Day, the organizers are dedicating Sunday to families this year. Gourmet also prepares a number of activities for younger people, children and young people under 18 years of age who come with their families can visit the MBH Bank Gourmet Festival for free.
Ticket sales for this year’s event started on March 8, Women’s Day, in honor of women’s energy.
