World Environment Day is one of the UN’s most important days for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment.It was celebrated first back in 1974 and by now almost 100 countries joined the World Environment Day event to raise attention to the importance of protecting our environment.
Each World Environment Day is organized around a certain theme that focuses on a particularly pressing environmental concern. The theme for this year is beating plastic pollution.
Every World Environment Day has a different host country, where the official celebrations take place. This year’s host is India.
