After leaving Rome, the engine of a Boeing carrying 249 passengers caught fire in the air

The Chinese Hainan Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner had to make an emergency landing in Rome on Sunday due to an engine fire, the Italian press reported.

The plane likely collided with birds shortly after takeoff from Rome’s Fiumicino Airport. A video shows the engine under the right wing on fire. There were 249 passengers and 16 crew members on board. According to radar screen footage, the airliner made several laps in the air to dump fuel before making an emergency landing, which was successful. No one was injured during the incident. The Boeing is now undergoing a technical review.

Recently, there have been several technical problems with the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
