Since 11 of May the annual press photo exhibition takes place on the ground floor corridor of the Kolcsey Centre. It is open the 3 of June.
After the exhibition in Budapest the Press Photo Exhibition arrived to Debrecen.
In recent decades the Hungarian Press Photo Exhibition became the most visited cultural event. The contest of the Hungarian Journalist Association ended with the similar interest like last couple of years. 535 photographers have sent 12493 photos in 13 categories till the 5th of January 2010.
In the middle of January the judges held an open public judging at the Mai Mano House.
Peter Horvath photographer was the president of the seven-member jury. His team was consisted of Sam Stewart photo editor(NPP USA), Balazs Czagany photojournalist, Balint Porneczi photojournalist, Judit M. Horvath and Andras Hajdu photographer and Marian Pauer photography historian (University of Bratislava).
Bela Szandelszky AP photoriporter won the MUOSZGrand Prize for the best performance with his "Roma grief" picture. He won a further three awards.
The Andre Kertesz Grand Prize went to Gyula Sopronyi with his "Orphanage in Havadto" series.
The best news picture`s Karoly Escher Special Prize went to Gergely Turi, photoriporter of the HVG.
Arpad Kurucz (Nepszabadsag) won the Mihaly Munkacsi Award for his collection.
Ferenc Somodi received the rural Award. Peter Andras Nemeth (Szabad Fold)won the Prize for the best performing photojournalist below 30 years old.
