A new ethnographic museum will be established in Debrecen at Rákóczi street 25.The development program of the new museum started on July 1 2010 and is scheduled to end in June 30 2012.
Colonel Gyorgy Deri donated a major ethnographic collection to the city of Debrecen in 1938. The exhibition of the material is unsolved since then.
The municipality was searching for a place to show the 2318 pieces collection to the general public. The collection represents a broad geographic field of historical Hungary so deserves a proper place.
The overall cost of the program is 412million HUF, 90% of the amount will be financed by the EU.The new museum`s all exhibition rooms will be equipped with an audio guide (Hungarian,English and German languages).
This system will ensure that blind and partially sighted visitors, and foreign tourists could attend the exhibition.
