Around 1500 children are expected to start attending public schools in Debrecen this autumn. The number of primary school pupils will decrease by another 200-300.
The financial contribution for school education will fall off this year. While the local government received 8 billion 279 million HUF last year, it will get 8 billion 203 million HUF this year. However, nursery schools will get more money than last year: instead of 332 million HUF, 333 million 518 thousand HUF.
The amount of the personal income tax will decrease. Instead of last year’s 3 billion 91 million HUF, this year it will be 2 billion 905 million HUF. According to the mayor, the reason for this is the economic meltdown.
