50-60 years ago posters showing the phases of kidney removal and the way how to make incisions were used by the Department of Operative Techniques and Surgical Research for educational purposes.
Medical students were taught the basics with the help of these posters which were presented on ”Contact Day” February 19th.
”Lots of things could still be taught with the help of these posters since they show the basics and if you don’t know them how can you build anything on them?” – explained Dr. Istvan Furka, professor at the Department of Operative Techniques and Surgical Research.
Besides the educational techniques of the past, interested ones could find out about future training possibilities, too. University of Debrecen Medical Center has been developing electronic educational material for a year. The center plans to make it available soon on the internet thereby enabling students to give comments to and discuss the material online.
Contact Day was organized the 6th time in UD Medical Center with the motto ”Partnership for the future”. The main theme was how to keep graduating doctors in the country.
”We focused on the possibilities we can provide for young doctors. In the main program we addressed those companies which gave significant support in this area.”- said Dr. Gyorgy Paragh, president of Center to the local DTV.
On the Saturday event, one of the companies announced having spent 100 dollars on founding a foundation which supports young researchers and another company donated instruments for medical students.
