The unemployment and poverty had an impact on the criminal situation of Hajdu-Bihar County
The unemployment and the impoverishment have a strong and clearly visible connection to crime. Couple of days ago local police head Csaba Fekete held a press conference about the annual progress of the police. The brigadier general stated that a negative trend was visible in the number of crimes against property. The number of known offenses has increased by 2.5% but the county`s public security situation remains stable. The police leader said that their main priorities were to ensure the parliamentary and municipal elections and the preparations of the Hungarian EU presidency and Romania`s accession to the Schengen area. The date of the latter is still uncertain but their next important task will be the reorganization of the border control and the tasks and duties of the county`s more than 450 border patrols.
