Tens of millions lost their lives in World War II.A commemoration was held in honor of them.
This Monday memorial events took place to commemorate the victims of World War II. In his short speech deputy mayor Béla Somogyi said that besides the commemoration, the dangers of the totalitarian systems should also be noted.
“9 May, 1945 is a warning to everyone that the totalitarian systems are inhuman and that the systems without control always carry the possibility for the manifestation of inhumanity.”- Béla Somogyi stressed.
One venue of the commemoration was the public cemetery where the participants paid tribute to the Soviet victims of the fights. Memorial wreaths were placed on the Soviet monument set up in the cemetery and also on the Romanian military monument on Bocskai Square.
