District attorney catches bicycle thief

Yesterday afternoon a man notified the police that his bicycle that was standing chained in front of an office in Segner Square had been stolen by a man.

During data collection the district attorney of the City Center-Tócóskert Police Station found out that the offender was a homeless-looking, approx. 180 cm tall, scruffy long-haired man who was wearing a red sweater and thick trousers. The stolen bike was a blue mountain bike, with a black front basket and it was locked with a blue chain.
The district attorney started a search for the offender and soon caught sight of a man who matched the description. He was riding a blue mountain bike in Derék Street. The attorney called him to identify himself following which the suspect admitted having stolen the bike from Segner Square. The owner was notified and the bike was returned to him.
The 29-year old perpetrator was arrested and produced at the Debrecen Police Station. Criminal proceedings were initiated against him for theft.
