The Summer University is popular this year, too. This summer, 180 foreigners are attending the courses. The students learn the Hungarian language primarily but they can also get acquainted with the Hungarian culture and history. The courses began on Monday.
The majority of the students attend the Summer University because of language learning. “Most people come here to begin or continue learning the Hungarian language. There are many students who keep returning year by year in order to further refine their language skills but there are beginners, too.” – explained Péter Szaffkó, director of the Summer University.
This year, most participants come from Germany, the United States and France but New Zealand, India and Argentina are also represented. A total of 180 students are attending. The oldest one is 71 years old, the youngest is 10. The 2-week language course costs 540 EUR and more than half of the participants pay the costs with their own money. The students are going to spend 2-4 weeks at the university.
