Although there was no storm, lightning or strong wind, much rain has fallen since today morning. The drainage system of Debrecen cannot absorb the rainwater.
The cause of this phenomenon is that the environment of the deflectors are not properly cleaned so the drains are simply obstructed. In addition to this, in some places the drainage of rainwater is connected directly to the sewage system. This method is illegal, of course: the capacity of the sewage network is not enough for the sudden load and it floods with faeces and other unhygienic stuff which is dangerous for human health.
