On 28-29 July, a TISPOL „European Operation Bus” road safety check was performed in Hajdú-Bihar County.
170 policemen and 16 people from other institutions took part in the operation where 139 Hungarian and 39 foreign buses were checked. The policemen imposed a fine on the spot in 225 cases, and reported violation 36 times. 56 drivers got only a warning for smaller violations. The police found 3 unfasten safety belts, 222 speed limit violations and 84 drivers who crossed the red lights. 1 driver and 2 cyclists were reported because of drunk driving. Most of the spot fines (65) were imposed because of improper lighting of the vehicles. As Éva Kelemen, spokeswoman of Hajdú-Bihar County Police reported, most of the bus dricvers in our county observes the rules.
