By the end of September, the 20-year old Transplantation Centre of Debrecen will be expanded with two operating rooms. These rooms will be used especially for living-donor transplantations.
In the last 20 years more than 700 transplantations have been carried out int he Transplantation Center of Debrecen. The first living-doonor transplantation however was carried out about 1.5 years ago. The reason waas the lack of space: living-donor transplantations need two operating rooms at the same time.
Now, with the building of the two new operating rooms, this won’t be a problem any more.
The institue has 452 patients now. They have carried out 2 living-donor operation so far – the third one is planned for the end of September.
