On its meeting on 22 January, the local government will decide on buying the majority ownership of the company operating the women’s handball team of Debrecen.
Representing the local government, Lajos Kosa (Mayor) and Zoltan Pajna (Vice-Mayor) negotiated with the leaders and players of the handball team.
The previous sponsor announced to stop supporting the team in the summer. Since then, 13 players have left the team due to the unsure future.
As the leaders of the city do not want the team to be ceased to exist, they are willing to buy the majority ownership to be handled by Debrecen Sportcentrum (which is maintained by the city government).
