WHO Cooperation Center to be established in Debrecen

Faculty of Medicine of the University of Debrecen organized the closing event and presentation of the Development Project of Health Centre of Debrecen on the 7th Day of Contact. Project leaders of performed investment of 12 billion forints represented their developments on the closing event. Miklós Réthelyi, Minister of National Resources, Róbert Rácz, government executive and Lajos Kósa, Mayor of Debrecen attended the event.WHO has appointed the Department of Preventive Medicine of the Faculty of Public Health of the University of Debrecen as Centre of Social Vulnerability and Health Cooperation Center.

With this appointment WHO acknowledged the excellent scientific work of the Institution also in international environment, just like its contribution to health development, public health and development of health researches among discriminated social groups, mostly Romani people – says Zsuzsanna Jakab, chief of the European Regional Office of the WHO, and guest of the 7th Day of Connection.

As the Cooperation Center of the WHO, Institute of Medical Prevention is going to make researches for the explanation of the health condition of the Romani people and for the comparison of determining factors, also dealing with the collection, analysis and distribution of  evidences and effective practices about discriminated social groups.

Apart from these, they also organized professional events and development trainings about the health state, research methods concerning the Roma people and social and economic effects on their health state for the decision-makers of European states – informed Dr. Róza Ádány, university lecturer, chief of the Cooperation Center.
