The Media Studies Research Group of the University of Debrecen is organizing a 2-day conference (23-24 February) at which they are going to review the places of reminiscence (lieux de mémoire) in the Hungarian popular culture
The conference is going to examine the medial connections of the lieux de mémoire and their role in the popular culture with the help of scientific presentations given by historians, literary scholars, media scholars. The talks and presentations are going to give insights into the culture of the 70’s and 80’s and their present day retro effect, the television advertisements of the Kádár era, their political background, they are going to talk about the remembrance of the Aranycsapat, Rejtő Jenő’s life work and the special documents written during the 1956 Revolution and many other subjects. The Research Group is planning to publish the material of the presentations in the form of a book at the beginning of summer. The conference is going to be held in MODEM
