An unordinary auction was held in the City Hall of Debrecen on Tuesday. Instead of properties or land, bikinis were on offer.
The municipality organizes auctions on a regular basis but normally properties, land, houses, apartments and offices are put up. But on Tuesday, 42 bikinis – seized from a company because of tax debt – were on offer. Two people appeared at the auction and in half an hour all of the bikinis were sold. For how much they were sold is a tax secret but it’s very likely that the estimated value of at least 4-5000 forints/piece was paid which means 203.000 forints for the municipality in half an hour. The municipality has been organizing auctions for 18 years and this was the first time that bikinis were put up.
