In Debrecen, you can learn Chinese at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen, in a study circle at Kossuth Lajos High School and at Discimus Business Academy with the help of Chinese language teachers.
Every year, 25 Hungarian students can study in China, 15 with government scholarship and 10 with scholarship provided by the Office of Chinese Language Council International. “In Hungary, China has been associated mainly with cheap goods and eateries until recently and as far as culture was concerned, the circus or perhaps the Beijing opera has come to the public mind.” –a publication of the Confucius Institute writes. “This has changed significantly: lots of young people and experienced professionals of economy realize that China plays a tremendously important role in the global economy and the global culture, too.”
The broadening of the Confucius Institute network is a central issue for the Chinese government. 322 Confucius Institute class rooms were operating in 96 countries at the end of 2010.
