Wizz Air: new destinations from Debrecen

Local News

CEO of Wizz Air, József Váradi held a press conference today in Budapest. As he informed, besides the (by that time already operating) Debrecen-London flight the schedule of Airport Debrecen will contain two new destinations: Eindhoven and Milan. The latter is especially advantageous because of the possibility to change to various intercontinental flights.Debrecen expects the boost of health tourism -mainly that of dentistry- from the launching of the new flights. Like Lajos Kósa, Mayor of Debrecen told, the city has made a marketing contract of 100,000 Euros worth to the website of Wizz Air which is visited by about 100 million people in a year. One third of this investment is paid by the city itself, another one is given by companies, while the third part is financed by partner self-governments of Debrecen.

However, the Mayor took objection of the fact that while the air traffic control and the fire department are financed by the state in Liszt Ferenc Airport of Budapest and the Airport of Sármellék, Debrecen has to bear these burdens by itself. He also added that if the state took  the financing of these services, the development of the airport could be faster.

To celebrate the new destinations, Wizz Air offers a promotion: tickets to Eindhoven and Milan from Budapest and Debrecen can be booked from 3590 HUF (one-way, all inclusive) at wizzair.com or on the phone (+36 90 181 181).
