“By getting to know each other’s cultures and customs the participants get closer to each other and this might be a life defining experience.” (With video and pictures!)
Hungarian and foreign high school and university students have met recently in MODEM at the III. International Event. “By getting to know each other’s cultures and customs the participants get closer to each other and this might be a life defining experience.” – said István Haraszti, chief organizer of the event. The participants could meet students coming not only from EU countries but also from the third countries. Student organizations dealing with foreign affairs (DEHÖK EHKB ESN DEBRECEN, AEGEE DEBRECEN, AIESEC DEBRECEN) and cultural associations like American Corner, Deutsches Kulturforum and Alliance Francaise were also represented at the one-day event.
The opening professional conference was followed by leisure activities. A CAFÉ TALK with international trainees from Brazil and Mexico was organized for interested ones who could taste different kinds of food and coffee during the discussions. At the professional conference Thomas Leszke and Marco Grdosic gave talks about the role of student organization, the importance of volunteering then Robin Whitford and Dóra Barta described student life in America, comparing it to the Hungarian student life. During the afternoon programmes, the participants wrote their opinions on the wall of stereotypes, played a giant board game, folded origami and listened to two concerts in the evening. Everyone paying the entrance fee of 500 forints supported a foundation for children with leukemia.
