“In particular, the University of Debrecen can be the link between Iran and the Northern Great Plains region as the institution not only covers the industries that might be potential fields of cooperation between the two countries but it also accepts 300 Iranian students each year.” – explained Sayed Saeed Agha Banihashemi, Iranian Ambassador to Hungary at the Hungarian-Iranian economic forum held on Friday.
The diplomat also emphasized that Iran’s most important external trade partner was the EU that could easily overcome the current economic crisis if it opened up towards Central Asia. He added that the Hungarian-Iranian commercial activity has grown by 15% as compared to 2010. Ferenc Miklóssy, head of the Hajdú-Bihar County Chamber of Commerce and Industry pointed out that although Iran is subject to numerous sanctions and embargoes, there are no restrictions in the health industry and the food industry – areas in which Hungary is concerned.
