The University of Debrecen and the University of Oradea have started a common, EU-funded research project to examine the labour market situation in the Bihar region, mainly the employment opportunities for young people.Data collection at 5 Romanian and 5 Hungarian settlements has started in March to reveal the labour situation of people between 16 and 35. The research focuses mainly on educational attainments, goals, past or present working conditions, but examines social and family situation as well. The team of seven will publish the results in autumn. Employer expectations are being revealed with a similar method. Since local governments are the main employers in the region, the leaders of the settlements are also involved in the project. The EU provided 190.000 Euros for the project.
