Advent is the time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas. In order to help the preparation for Christmas, the churches, institutions, civil organizations of Debrecen are cooperatively organizing programs for the visitors.
2 December, 4 p.m., Kossuth Square: Let There Be Light!
At 3.30 p.m. a march is starting from the City Hall to the Christmas tree of Debrecen. There will be an opening ceremony; the people will be greeted by Lajos Kósa, mayor of Debrecen, Gusztáv Bölcskei, Calvinistic Bishop, and the leaders of other churches: the Baptist, the Evangelic and the Greek Catholic.
The first candle will be lit on the Advent wreath.
At the “Table of Love”, in front of the Great Church, the visitors can taste milk-loaf and other cakes.
2 December, 7 p.m, Főnix Hall.: Festive Concert of Caramel
Caramel and the Kodály Philharmonics are giving a festive concert at Főnix Hall.
