István Fábian, current Rector of the University withdrew his candidacy.
The three candidates were István Fábián, Zoltán Szilvássy, strategic vice-rector, and György Paragh, president of the Medical Centre of the University.
After the unexpected withdrawal, Fábián said that he wanted the University to present a steadily supported candidate. For the time being, György Paragh is the most supported.
The decision will be made by Zoltán Balog, Secretary of Human Resources. The new rector starts his work on 1 July.
