The grey cranes (Grus gurs) are still here, however they should have left a long time ago.
The mild winter has an effect on migratory birds: the cranes did not leave the Hortobágy; what is more, the geese have already come back.
Csaba Aradi, the director of the Hortobágy National Park says that usually the cranes are leaving at the beginning of November. Although the geese have left, they came back last week and started to mark their territories. If the weather stays mild, it would easily happen that these migratory birds would not migrate this year.
