According to the plans, 12-13 year old girls receive their first HPV (human papilloma virus) vaccines in the next school year.
Those girls, who are at this age, get the vaccine for free, since in Hungary the number of those women who became the victims of cervical cancer is extremely high. Besides, HPV is also associated with several less common types of cancer; it can also cause genital warts and warts in the upper respiratory tract.
HPV vaccine is an inactivated vaccine that protects against the four major types of HPV. These include two types that cause about 70% of cervical cancer and two types that cause about 90% of genital warts. HPV vaccine can prevent most genital warts and most cases of cervical cancer.
