The American Corner Debrecen presents Skyscrapers and Wild Rice – Presentation to honor Native American Heritage month on 25 November at 6 pm.
Guest Speaker: Dr. Judit Szathmári Assistant Professor at the North American Department of the Institute of English and American Studies, University of Debrecen.
The presentation offers to take a tour of Indian Country in the 21st century: starting from Chicagoland skyscrapers – home of the Chicago Blackhawks, and the oldest urban American Indian Center of the United States which has been welcoming Indian people since 1952, you are kindly invited on a journey through New York, the Wampanoag Village of Plymouth Plantation, and Cooperstown, to finally arrive at the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Reservation in Minnesota for manoomin (wild rice harvest). Illustrated with photos, music, and videos, the talk will introduce present-day urban and reservation Indian communities and their rich cultures to honor the National American Indian Heritage Month or Native American Heritage Month observed in the United States since 1990.
