According to István Herdon, C.E.O. of the XANGA Group, the Airport of Debrecen will have more flights, if people start to travel by air.
The XANGA Group started to operate the Airport of Debrecen in 2011. At that time, the number of passengers was 9 thousands per year. Herdon said that their goal was to increase that number to 300 thousands per year; by 2020, they are expecting 1 million passengers per year.
He also mentioned that the airport is one of the most important factors in the region and that the more people decide to travel by air, the more flights will be launched.
The Airport of Debrecen has huge effects on the economics and also on the tourism of the region. Herdon says that he hopes that besides passenger transport, cargo transport could be launched soon.
