Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, today announced the title sponsorship of Debrecen Airport Run, a unique running race, which will take place on the airport’s runway on 22 April.This announcement once again underlines Wizz Air’s long-standing commitment to mobilize people and promote active lifestyle. The airline is already the title sponsor of several running events in its base cities across Europe. The Wizz Air Budapest Half Marathon, the Wizz Air Kyiv City Marathon, the Wizz Air Cluj-Napoca Marathon, the Wizz Air Kosice Runway Run and the Wizz Air Skopje Marathon are popular running events among both local professional and amateur runners as well as visitors of the cities.
Since its first commercial Debrecen flight in 2012, Wizz Air has constantly expanded its Debrecen network. In 2015, Wizz Air established base operations in the city creating a number of local jobs with the airline and its business partners, while bringing affordable travel to even more Hungarian customers. In 2016, Wizz Air carried 278,000 passengers on its Debrecen routes supporting over 200 local jobs.
Wizz Air now offers six low-fare routes from Debrecen.
